Nicole Loubert

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to paint. I am now blessed to be able to paint everyday.

I love using colours to make bright and bold paintings. My paintings are not discrete... You can see them from far away!

When I was younger, I did not have many opportunities to practice my painting skills. Art supplies were expensive and hard to come by. I would get as creative as I could and use any other medium I could find, including mud and clay to let my inner artist express itself.

I have now been living in the Northwest Territories for the past 30 years, and have developed a strong passion for our beautiful northern landscapes. This is what inspires so many of my pieces, as well as my childhood home by the Atlantic Ocean, painting seashore sunsets, lighthouses, and beaches.

While most of my art are landscapes, I can find inspiration anywhere. Beautiful places, sunsets and sunrises, childhood friendship memories, our loving pets... I am always open to taking on commission work. They are fun to create, and bringing someones vision or special memory to life is meaningful and rewarding.

My most current project is a medley painting representing northern Alberta in honour of my dear mother-in-law who passed away last summer, and who spent all of her life in the countryside.

I enjoy keeping busy, and am registered as a business through the City of Yellowknife, which allows me to sell and teach my art from my home studio.

I began painting 20 years ago, and starting offering art classes in 2010.

There is nothing better than sharing my love of art with others, and seeing the bright smiles on their faces when they complete their very own masterpieces. As a teacher, I feel the drive to share what I know.

My paintings have sold to people from around the world, and I love knowing that my art is on so many different walls.

I look forward to having more opportunities to display my art in festivals and craft sales, and to share my passion with all of you.

Artist Resume

My Story

I am a local artist from Yellowknife who has have moved here in 1992 from Québec. Since then, I have really enjoyed developing my skills in oil painting, teaching artistic classes and selling my art in our community.

Although I enjoy many different art forms and mediums, I have come to truly appreciate painting, especially with oils. Every artwork I create is unique in their own way thanks to the different colors I use. My art clearly expresses the strong love of nature that I have.

I’m so happy that I have found my unique painting style that feels true to me, while exploring various techniques at home over the years. Many of my landscape paintings are inspiration sparked from our beautiful North. I am forever proud of my growth as an artist & grateful to call home such a remarkable territory.
